"I never planned to become a business owner. Crocheting and knitting served as art therapy for me as a caregiver. Soon I realized that creating was a healing tool for me and helped finance my son's medical needs. HGE Designs Co was created."
Born and raised in Baltimore, Nikki Stokes is an enterprising crochet designer. What began as a hobby, has evolved into a business and a growing philanthropic mission.
She creates to foster healing for her son, her community, and herself. There are communities that exist that do not have access to life-changing therapies. The mission is to advocate for underrepresented families, and to foster a sprit of inclusion, for families often isolated due to their children’s behavior.
The work is multidimensional. It serves as fine art and an instrument for art therapy. The work can be manipulated and used for sensory integration and attuned with energy to promote holistic mental and physical wellbeing.
