The Puzzling Disorder Project is an outgrowth of HGE Designs Co to offer sensory and kinesthetic support for Autistic children through functional fashion, sensory inclusive products and customized sensory kits. Our functional fashion will be in the form of weighted scarves, vests and lap pads. Our sensory kits will give children calming tools on the go. Subscription boxes can be purchased by businesses to offset the cost to families.
Raising autistic children became even more of a challenge when the sensory rooms in schools and therapists offices were no longer accessible due to the pandemic. These resources can affect a family's ability to care for their children successfully at home without unnecessary interactions with law enforcement.
In 2020 HGE Designs Co. created it's first art enrichment program for students age 14-18. This program utilized art therapy and music theory to engage students in conflict resolution, education on college readiness and community. The students contributed to the design of panels that would be donated to families raising autistic children. Due to Covid-19 the first session was a virtual program.
